Under 2s Unit

Our brand new bright baby and toddler rooms provides both a stimulating and comfortable environment for children aged from birth to 2 years. Whilst bright and stimulating, the versatility of the room offers a calm and relaxing atmosphere.

A high ratio of staff (1:3) ensure that babies and toddlers can benefit from individual attention through a flexible routine that is adapted to suit individual needs ensuring continuity between home and nursery. A daily diary is provided to record information throughout the day for your reference.

Learning through play begins in the baby and toddler rooms where activities are planned to give babies and toddlers the opportunity to discover the world around them. Each day brings about new challenges and experiences, and whilst being given the opportunity to develop their natural inquisitiveness and curiosity, children can enhance their social skills & develop friendships by interacting with others.

Early Years Foundation Stage

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage which focuses on the distinct needs of children from birth to 5 years of age. Play is an integral part of the curriculum. It recognises that through supported play children can explore, develop and use their curiosity and imagination to help them make sense of the world in a secure environment. They practice skills, build up ideas and concepts, think creatively and imaginatively and communicate with others as they investigate and solve problems.

The Early Years Foundation Stage is divided into six developmental areas as follows:

• Personal, Social and Emotional Development
• Physical Development
• Communication Language and Literacy
• Knowledge and Understanding of the World
• Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy
• Creative Development

Since we consider outside play an integral part of our syllabus the nursery school has its own secure enclosed garden complete with play equipment. Soft play areas are provided to ensure all age groups and a range of activities are catered for.

Staff

Our staff team are highly valued and we pride ourselves in having a consistent staff team. For us, our commitment to our team mirrors our commitment to our children. The core members of the team are fully qualified, experienced and supported by nursery nurse assistants. They are all enthusiastic and caring - combining a love of young children with professional expertise. This is coupled with an understanding of the children's needs and their development processes.

New staff joining the team are subject to rigorous checks to ensure their suitability. Professional reference checks are completed prior to their start date. All staff are cleared through the Criminal Records Bureau.
